Actually, postnews DOESN'T install the .signature. Inews does. that means 
that anything going through inews (postnews, followups from vnews or
readnews, or any homebrew interface) will have signatures appended
automatically. I've modified recmail to append signatures automatically as
well for consistency sake (it is used by the reply command of readnews and
vnews). I've just posted that fix for the beta-test version of 2.10.2, but
it is trivial for any previous version as well. The only thing that doesn't
(right now, at least) add it automatically is the regular mailer, mainly
because I'm lazy and I keep meaning to write my own anyway (no, I don't
like Randmail, and I don't like Berkeley mail and I'm too busy/lazy (mostly
lazy) to write chuquimail. so far)
