I have only recently discoverd the "parent" command in vnews, whose 
concept I think is great, but whose implementation seems to fall
down. The two questions are 1.) Why don't arpa submissions through
!sri-unix ever have reference lines, and 2.) Shouldn't vnews also look
forward for the parent article? With the net causality (sp?) being what
it is, it seems half the time we get the reply before the message.
