Center, Univ. of Texas at Austin Lines: 17 I don't know why so many people insist on portraying God (if there is one) as a magician. Why is it SO inconceivable that a Creator could use NATURAL law in order to bring about changes affecting mankind? Symbology has ALWAYS been used in the Bible to attempt a simplistic explanation of complicated concepts to a simple people. Even Jesus told his diciples that he spoke in parables because putting his message in terms the people could understand was the only way he could get through to them. Take the symbology out of the Bible and you remove most of the meaning there. Now, I don't consider myself "religious", but I would be foolish to discount the wisdom I have seen in the Bible just because a bunch of dense and inflexable people decided THEY know what it all means!
