First of all, I don't think the people in El Salvador or Nicaragua will be very glad if you win. Also, I think that a world with only one superpower is very very dangerous, whether this superpower is the US or the USSR. I think that such a country would move towards totalitarian regime very soon, and there would be no-one to oppose it if it did. What would you do if the US army said "Well, we'll put the constitution aside and rule the world for a while"? There is absolutely nothing you could threaten them with.
