View, CA Lines: 32 [] I used to work with glaciologists and snow surveyors which required I learn to ski [field programming LSI-11s!]. I now ski for fun. Since, I moved to the Bay Area, I have been somewhat disappointed that this news group doesn't have more info. Tell you what, each time you or I or others go skiing, even cross country [outside of those X-C resorts], we post conditions. We could do something like: Dates: Location: Weather: Cloud cover (%): New snow: Snow conditions: Depth: Snow type: [if known] Exposure: (Slope faces N S E W?) If X-C: what waxes? Avalanche hazard: Comments: (Short pertaining to conditions) This might seem redundent to ski reports and weather on the news, but most news casters get info, second hand, biased by resorts, and lacking detail like ski waxing. --eugene miya NASA Ames Res.
