Newsgroups: net.rec.wood,or.general [bite this byte, bug!] Fine woods, or even slightly unusual woods, are hard to find. Fred Meyer doesn't know of anything more esoteric than cedar. Is there a place in the Portland, OR area where I can buy unusual hardwoods like rosewood or walnut? Are there reasonable sources of common hardwoods like oak, cherry and maple? For instance, back in Virginia we had Arlington Woodworkers who wood sell you boxwood or tulipwood at (yikes!) about $30 a board foot, while Hechinger's (a hardware chain) sold finished oak and cherry for under $4.00/bf Please reply by mail. I'll repost if anything interesting arrives... -- :::::: Jan Steinman Box 1000, MS 61-161 (w)503/685-2843 :::::: :::::: tektronix!tekecs!jans Wilsonville, OR 97070 (h)503/657-7703 ::::::
