I recommend that you go buy/read the Sept. Omni for Adagio by Barry Longyear.
It's a great story - imaginative plot, more real-sounding dialogue and monologue
than most, and a glorious punchline. Almost any plot details would spoil it -
it's the story of 5 people stranded on an out-of-the-way planet and what they
do in their copious free time.
