Sorry, you are mostly incorrest.  Racing cyclists shave their legs (and 
even their arms) to prevent *infection*.  Hairs can harbor bacteria, and
when you have an abrasion, you need all the help you can get!  Of course,
not having hair to rip out when you *remove* the bandage.... :-)
