Net.people,

     I am finishing up my nearly 6-year stint at SDC this week and
I'm not sure if there will be access to Usenet where I am going (ITT).
So I am going to use this opportunity to say a few goodbyes and make
a few observations.
     Although I am a relative newcomer to the net (only since Mar.)
and I have been mainly a spectator not a participant, I feel that
I have gained in that participation.

     Of all the groups, net.single is far and away the most interesting,
controversial, funny, and provocative.
     Thanks to Chuq for his coolness under fire, his objectivity,
his subjectivity, his hamsters, and his Meadow Party (which I missed,
boo-hoo).
     Thanks to Trish (whom I have never confused with Trisha) for
the guts to yell at us, for helping me (and maybe others) to look at myself
a little differently, for her convictions under fire and heavy
scrutiny, and for just being who she is.
     Thanks to Rich for Alan for Rich for Alan for Rich...oh heck,
it's just not the same without'em, is it?
     Thanks to Lissssssa Chabot, the only true Valley Girl on the net.
Fer shure!!
     Thanks to M.Cole for bringing a bit of the windy city to L.A.

     And last, but certainly not least, thanks to all those net.people
who misspell wurds, who correct those that misspell words, who keep
their mouths shut about misspelled words, who flame-on with wet
kindling, who misquote articles from the "ledge of the Eighth cornice,"
who opened their eyes and took a good look at themselves, who are
happily intertwined with an SO, who are happily intertwined with
themselves, who are happy not being intertwined at all, who know
what they're talking about, who don't know what they're talking
about, who don't care that they don't know what they're talking about,
who walk on hot coals, and, finally, who subscribe to net.single --
the best group on the net!
