Roffbib seemed to me to be exactly what the doctor ordered. Its manual page says: Roffbib prints out all records in a bibliographic database, in bibliography format ... I dutifully, as instructed, ran my bibliographic database through as follows: sortbib database | roffbib but what comes out still has all of the %A, %R, %I's left in it. Roffbib is merely a shell script to call refer with -B. The refer manual says: The input file (or standard input) is copied to standard output, except for lines between .[ and .] delimiters,... So, of course, all of the %A, %R, %I's are left in since a bibliographic database (ala addbib) does not have a .[ or .] in it. How does one use roffbib to create a bibliography?
