In "The Keeper of Traken" the Master tricks his way into getting access to the Source (a great power generator that maintains peace and harmony on Traken when occupied by an appropriate Keeper). He plans to supplement his own powers in the last days of his 12th regeneration with those of the Source to take over the Doctor's body and extend his life. Of course, he is foiled in this attempt, and he settles for the next-best body around: that of Councillor Tremas, who is Nyssa's father. He also uses his powers to trim about 30 years off of Tremas' rather elderly body (and about 80% off his beard). In the next story, "Logopolis", Nyssa follows the doctor to Logopolis to get his help in locating her missing father. This story also features a confrontation between the Master and the Doctor and ends with the Doctor's regeneration. Nyssa stays with the Doctor after his regeneration.
