I could mention that a number of my makeup jobs have been the sort that would not be worn on the street, since they were to age me (in a show last spring, I played a 70-year-old; the director looked at me in costume and makeup and said, "You'll look good when you get old!"). But back to the point. While wearing makeup is fun as a novelty, it's still a pain in the rear; even the short runs (~9 performances) of Lafayette Civic Theatre shows are enough to get one tired of making up, and even more so of using messy cold cream or some such to remove the stuff. Those people (by far the majority women) who wear makeup every day do not have it easy. -- -- Jeff Sargent {decvax|harpo|ihnp4|inuxc|seismo|ucbvax}!pur-ee!pucc-h:aeq "I may be rancid butter, but I'm on your side of the bread."
