Berch) Does anyone have any specific knowledge of a UNIX-based worksta- tion that is oriented towards word processsing and office automa- tion, rather than towards CAD/CAE applications? What we are real- ly looking for is a machine that offers word processing designed for people who like the Wang/Lanier/NBI approach, but also would integrate with our planned LAN to be made up of Sun workstations (for technical publishing and s/w development) and a VAX 780 and a PDP 11/70 (for software development and database management). We have made a significant committment to TCP/IP networking, and it would be ideal to have a set of workstations that could fully participate in the network. I envision future R&D workplaces where administrative DP func- tions (word processing, budget forecasting, personnel management, etc.) could be fully integrated with the scientific/technical development effort. Is anyone addressing this goal? Michael Berch berch@lll-tis ...ucbvax!lbl-csam!lll-tis!berch
