This year, we will start with a general treatment of facilities available on campus and in the department. The first week will be devoted to this general theme, followed by an introduction to UNIX (the departmental system) which will be a prerequisite to sessions on text processing and, later, data analysis. The sessions will be held Tuesdays and Thursdays at noon in room 336 (space permitting) starting this week (9 Oct.). Those interested only in text processing can safely skip the first week. If you are already using UNIX (as you must be to be reading this), you can skip today's session (Tuesday, Oct. 9). -- David Trueman @ U of Toronto Zoology {allegra,ihnp4,linus,decvax}!utzoo!david
