I haven't seen the tests myself, so it is only hearsay. I do use a fair amount of disks, and most of my 5&1/4's are Athana's. Whereas only about 30 are Dysan's. I have had one bad side of one Dysan and no problems at all with the many more Athana's. An interesting sidenote is that I use both sides of my disks in my single sided Apple drives, The one bad Dysan was a double-sided disk, and most (if not all) of my Athana's are single sided.
