We've heard that the MicroVAX II will probably be announced in February 1985, its performance is somewhere between a 750 and a 780, closer to the 750. Based on MIPS, with the 780 being a 1 and the 750 a .7, looks like uVAXII could be .8. Also the uVAXI will be field upgradable to a II (board swap). I have no real feel for the 730, however the uVAXI is rated as a .3 and the 730 a .36 so their real close. We do have some EMACS users on our 780's and it really eats up the system, so my suggestion is that a 750 may be more appropriate unless you want to wait for the MicroVAX II.
