Even if you use Stylast, you still MUST inspect your stylus for wear periodically A worn stylus will Destroy all the records it plays (another case for CD's). Generally inspection is recommended after 300 hours of use, and then every 100 hours after that. You can do it with a microscope, but if you're unfamiliar with what good and bad styli look like (especially on the more complex multi-radial tips) most dealers provide complimentary inspection service.
