My 1977 Rabbit had its right inner constant velocity
joint changed last spring at about 80K miles.  After
just 5000 miles I began to hear noises from that
side and checked it out.  There is again play in the
CV joint.  Some questions:  Could the joint have gone
bad so quickly?  If so, why?  Could the problem be
something else in the drivetrain/transmission/etc?

Any and all help/comments/suggestions would be
appreciated.
