    The toughest grade I've ever faced was North Mountain in Cape Breton 
 Highlands National Park, Nova Scotia.  According to my rough estimates
 we had to climb 450m over 3km, or a grade of 15%.  We met a fellow from
 Texas who'd biked extensively in the Rockies - he said it was the 
 steepest hill he'd ever encountered.
    Rumour has it that the south side of Cape Smokey (same park))  
 is even worse.  I wouldn't know - I went down it.  Wheeeeeee!

p.s. ...and I thought I'd never have to get out of the saddle with
  a 27 inch gear.  Ha!
