Today's Electronic Engineering Times brings the news that DEC
has announced the VAX 8600 (Venus), a 4.2 million instructions/
second VAX.  The machine costs roughly twice as much as a
VAX-11/780 and provides about 2.5 times the processor capacity.
The system can be equipped with:

  32 million bytes of main storage
  160 billion bytes of disk storage
  512 communications lines
