My four kids enjoyed riding the esclators on the "Metro" (subway). It is
a system that DC is rightly proud of and was long overdue.

Please take the kids to see the Lincoln Memorial.  It is particularly 
beautiful at night.  If they're acomplished climbers, try the Washington Monument.

Visit your congressman.  Take the White House tour.

My favorite thing though is the Museum of Natural History: I believe they
have the best dinasour and mineral collections anywhere.  (And it doesn't feel
as commercial/disneyland nor as crowded as the Space and Technology Museum(s)!)
