The fact of the matter is that national attention was brought to the issue by a tiny percentage of the population (Brown has ~6600 students and only a percentage of that voted for the idea) the only problem with this was the fact that many of the groups reporting the information left out some key facts (such as the fact that it was a symbolic gesture).
