If you have a plain ME as opposed to ME Super, etc, I recommend the Vivitar 285. It is relatively compact, powerful, and flexible. It is a good general-purpose flash unit. It may be quite a bit more than you need. It lists for $130 CAN and I think it's about $70 US if you find the right discount store. The 5600 you mention is more a very portable professional unit. Unless you know you need the features, save some money. I have not looked much at Metz units because I thought the Vivitar had more flexibility. Herb...
