But the Shi'ite sect of Islam (the minority sect living mostly in Iran, Iraq, and Jordan) claims something similar about their 12th (and last) Imam. He disappeared (died) and re-appeared again and was in communication with a small circle of his followers. Finally he disappeared for good and will come back again to save the world from an anti-christ-like figure and will lead the world to Judgement Day.
