During World War II, quite a number of Jews who had gotten out of Germany
made their way to Shanghai.  A friend of mine lived there for 15 years
after his family escaped the Nazis; I'll be glad to pass along any questions.
A rather well-known member of that group is former Treasury Secretary
Michael Blumenthal; however, he converted to Christianity quite some time ago.
