Most of the stuff I've read also claims that roughly 80% of the people who try to kill themselves don't really want to (as determined by interviews by doctors afterwards, I suppose). Maybe these two things are related. Do women tend to communicate in less direct ways than men? (Women aren't "supposed" to be assertive, though that's been changing in recent years.
