The referenced article gives all the appropriate warnings, etc.  My comments

@@@ According to the techs that gave a headcleaning class at my local video
@@@ store, just hold the swab steady on the drum surface, and turn the circular
@@@ metal piece at the top of the drum to move the heads past the swab.  Works
@@@ just fine for me.
