I have found that the "high-end" VCR data sheets that some of the dealers carry
reveal the signal-to-noise figures and resolution etc.  For instance, the JVC
HR-D725 VHS HiFi unit mentions that the video SNR is "more than 45db" and that
it was measured with a "Rhode & Schwarz noise meter".  This kind of candidness
in the video trade is rare, however.  I couldn't find out any of the kind of
specs I would like when searching for a video monitor/TV.

If you need more info and have more or less settled on a unit, I suggest
phoning the manufacturer's local plant and ordering a service manual.  They
typically run $5.00 and are worth while, even if just for the information on
care and cleaning.
