Stuff on large databases, how people search them, how machines should search them. For those of you who don't know who Lesk is, here's the bio that came with the abstract: Dr. Lesk has a PhD in Chemical Physics, Harvard 1969. Studied the RF spectrum of metastable carbon monoxide. Was at Bell Labs in Computer Science research 1969-83, and is now manager of Computer Science research at Bellcore. Worked on information retrieval, text processing (tbl, -ms, refer), networking (uucp), compilers (lex, early cpp and C libraries), and other software hacking problems. Is major user of disk space. -- Henry Spencer @ U of Toronto Zoology {allegra,ihnp4,linus,decvax}!utzoo!henry
