Examine the splice (where the ends of the ribbon are joined to make a loop continuous) carefully; two ribbons I got from Global Computer Supplies (of Plainview, NY) had bad misalignments which caused the topmost pin of the dot matrix to jam. If the splice is too broad or uneven, you will also suffer from a diagonal light- or un-printed zone every few pages of output. Cheap ribbons are no bargain! - z
