(Please, no flames about how lazy I am.) I wouldn't trade in the Hafler preamp; it's a wonderful machine. Its main problem is that it looks low-tech and so it doesn't impress your friends. I have a Hafler DH110 preamp and I absolutely love it. I am also lazy, and I have my power amp (Hafler DH220) hidden away out of view. I solved the power control problem by buying an ordinary 110-volt power distribution "utility box", of the variety that you can get at any good hardware store. I removed the switch from it, and in the spot where the switch used to be I installed a 110-vac 40a relay. The relay actuator cord plugs into the back of my preamp, and then all of my other audio junk plugs into the power box. The relay provides a few seconds of time delay in both directions. Any good electronics supply house can sell you a relay.
