| I think the word is 'technophobe', and from time to time I hear rumors
| about people who are anti-this-or-that including anti-progress.  We
| could always provide a protected piece of land somewhere where they
| could all go and live like cave men (O Brave New World!) or maybe if we
| ignore them the'll go away.  Kind of an amusing diversion though, to
| hear about these 'fringies' periodically. ( as long as they don't start

There is a word for these folks:  Luddites.  The name comes from the
fundamentalist rabble-rouser preacher who provoked his parishioners
into rioting and smashing the new card-driven automatic looms which
Hollerith had developed.  Happened in England at the start of the
industrial revolution.  Look it up in a good history book.  Incidentally,
the Luddites were soundly chastised by the Church of England.  Had to
mention that just in case someone gets the notion that religion is
anti-science.
