Why would you want to eat that?] The ironic thing is that people have been living comfortably (more or less) with machines for 500 years, and growing more and more mechanical as they do. People are frightened by computers because computers DON'T behave like machines. Think about it. Machines do exactly the same thing over and over. Computers adapt to all kinds of input. We've grown used to machines' being stronger than we are, but not to computers' being cleverer than we are. The "machine" issue is a red herring. Computers are not machines! -- Col. G. L.
