It was a mistake to extrapolate my knowledge about the absorbtion and filtering of electromagnetic radiation into the emission of the same. There does still seem to be a bit of disagreement on whether colour in fact affects heat radiation at all, or whether the amount solely dependent on the temperature. I won't hazard any guesses -- I'm crisp enough already, any colour you want! I intend, however, to continue using black cast-iron pans... My ignorance in the field of thermophysics should not be pronounced as my ignorance about everything, though, even though some University of Chicago people thing *this* is a valid extrapolation! I guess that's the style of net.flame though; and I hope I'm not offending any of the diehards of this newsgroup by admitting my error... :-) \tom watmath!watdcsu!haapanen
