Why do so many people feel the need to gratuitously move keys around? The ESC key is up in the frigid north and by the time my fingers get up there I forget what I was looking for. Whoever designed the keyboard must have been impressed by the potential of the IBM-PC for making people exercise their little fingers because the left shift key is left of where it belongs and the return key is to the right of where it belongs. And the reason the left shift key got moved was so the >< characters could be put next to the z key. It must have been too easy to leave >< on top of ,. like they've always been. Such a nice terminal, such a stupid keyboard. -- California Immigrant Phil Ngai (408) 749-5790 UUCP: {ucbvax,decwrl,ihnp4,allegra,intelca}!amd!phil ARPA: amdcad!phil@decwrl.ARPA
