I saw an IBM demo of the new controller and monitor several weeks ago. The demo program dumped a series of very realistic looking pictures on the screen. It took the PC-XT about 7 seconds (?) to move the picture from the disk to the screen. Although the XT's hard disk is relatively slow, it was not apparent when the disk was being accessed (i.e. the screen fill never appeared to stop because of an empty disk buffer.)
