	A certain man was caught trying to smuggle an expensive diamond
brooch out of a jewelry store.  After he was roughly hauled before the
store's manager, he pleaded, "Please, sir, it would break my family's
heart if they heard of this.  Please let me just pay for the item and
let it go at that!"  After a while, his entreaty persuaded the manager,
who told him he could pay the $7000 price of the brooch and be on his way.
The man studied the brooch for a moment, then looked up and asked,
"Could you show me something less expensive?"
