Robison) Organization: Exxon Office Systems, Princeton Lines: 24 Summary: Here we go again; I obviously wasn't clear enough in my instructions. (Be patient, there's a joke below.) Cut the brownies into four squares. That's easy. Then, holding the knife so the blade is parallel to the table, and therefore perpedicular to BOTH THE PREVIOUS CUTS, slice the four squares in half in the third dimension. You will now have 8 scquares, each of which has two dimensions that are equal (and are equal to the dimensions of the 4 squares), but whose third dimension is thinner than it was for the four squares. Remember, you are making squares, not cubes! The chuckle: This sort of thing is handled much more clearly for bagels. The cookbook "Moose Mousse " (by Langner and Gilbert) describes how to slice a bagel as follows (I'm quoting from memory): Slice bagel perpendicular to axis of hole... Moose Mousse, which I have discussed before in net.books, is an extremely funny cookbook (and therefore a rarity). It's probably out of print. - Toby Robison (not Robinson!) allegra!eosp1!robison or: decvax!ittvax!eosp1!robison or (emergency): princeton!eosp1!robison
