Somewhere around UNIX 3.0 "lint" flags were changed so that the default
in all cases is to do the checking.  This seems like the correct default
behavior, and formerly it was confusing trying to remember whether a flag
turned its corresponding check on or off.  I don't know whether the
change was USG's idea or Johnson's or ... but it is an improvement.
