The From line in these articles doesn't have one single format and you can see lines like From: John A. Doe From: jdoe@foo.ARPA From: jdoe at foo.ARPA From:jdoe@foo.ARPA (John A. Doe). and some other formats that I can't recall right now. These messages are recieved by a dummy acount called distimac, which in turn calls recnews to post the article. The problem is that the Path: line in the article is built by appending "ucla-cs!" (our site name) and the first "word" in the original From: line. This will result in these 4 Path: lines (corresponding to the above 4 From: lines): Path: ucla-cs!John Path: ucla-cs!jdoe@foo.ARPA Path: ucla-cs!jdoe Path: ucla-cs!jdoe@foo.ARPA When someone tries to reply to one of these articles, the "ucla-cs!" is discarded and, except in cases 2 and 4, it is sent to a wrong address. Now, I'm sure there are some other ARPA sites in netland with the same problem. As anybody come out with a way to extract the correct path ? -- Eduardo Krell UCLA Computer Science Department ekrell@ucla-locus.arpa ..!{sdcrdcf,ihnp4,trwspp,ucbvax}!ucla-cs!ekrell
