The nerve-racking questions of what to get have been a constant source of self-reflection; I'm sure that whatever my decision is, I'll kick myself at sometime later. The major factors to include in your purchase plan are: 1) Ability to do the tasks you WILL be doing the most. 2) Ability to upgrade later. I can tell you how I reached my decision: I am buying a Fat Mac with a Imagewriter and a 1200 baud terminal. I am also buying the external drive -- I could probably get by without it, using RAMdisk (thanks to whoever posted the sources!!), but I think it might be helpful in some cases. The drawbacks for buying this package: 1) Current Mac has no jack for later monitors (color, larger), and 2) no hard disk. I have decided not to wait for a Mac with these features because 1) Color, to me, is not very useful, and my eyes are good, and 2) since I'm not doing programming ON the Mac (at this time), disk intensive activity should be at a minimum (however, a) databases are a definite possibility, and b) I will be downloading a lot of net.sources and fa.info-mac sources onto it). Oh well, one man's opinion.... "A power so great, it can only be used for Good or Evil!" Moriarty, aka Jeff Meyer John Fluke Mfg. Co., Inc.
