The movie manages to combine some interesting documentary-syle footage (of the Bushmen of the Kalahari desert in S. Africa), some reasonably good social criticism (i.e., who is really "civilized"?), and some true slapstick hysterics (the protagonist is a Kalahari Bushman who has never seen anyone except other Bushmen; when he stumbles upon "civilization", the results are hilarious). But he's not the only character involved; there's a band of terrorists, a schoolteacher, a field biologist, and the governments of two contries mixed up in this also! If you're wondering how they do it, go see the movie. I only hope that people will not avoid this movie for political reasons (i.e., that it was made in S. Africa). If they did, they would really be denying themselves a good, rolling-in-the-aisles time. Dave Wagner wagner@washington ...decvax!uw-beaver!uw-june!wagner
