I have a Cannon 70-210. Although it is on the large size I have been very happy with it. I have not noticed any lack of sharpness. In fact I have used it with the Cannon 2x extender and it still looks good. However those shoots were taken froma tripod. One thing to keep in mind is that the minimum shutter speed is roughly 1 over the focal length so generally one should be shooting at 1/250 for hand held shots. Irv McNair ATT Bell Labs Whippany NJ
