The latest Sporting News (11/26/84) had them rated at #7, with Florida, OK, OK State, Ohio State, and Nebraska rounding out the top five. I tend to belive them for pretty accurate ratings. They don't follow the "popular" polls and I have found them over the last few years to be quite good, especially in college basketball. Anyway, every sportscaster here in Denver thinks they deserve their rating of #1. I'm not too sure about that. The composite records of their opponents this year is 50-75-3, with the best team having a 6-4-0 record. Not too impressive. My vote would have to go with Oklahoma (even though I despise Barry Switzer). I only vote for them because Florida is on probation till hell freezes over, so they really shouldn't be counted.
