No. Treacle has some of a molasses flavor, but is lighter and sweeter. (I believe it works out to be a combination of molasses and sugar(s).) Incidentally, I looked in a small dictionary which defined "treacle" as simply "molasses". However, this dictionary was printed in the U.S. Diane, who was born and raised in Britain, objects strongly to this definition.
