SOMEONE has to hire the lawyer before they sue anybody. Lawyers don't look in the want ads for people that want to be sued! As far as defence (criminal or civil) in court, if I am not guilty and the court wants to have me killed or have me pay mega-bucks, I want my lawyer to file on every possible loophole. Every once in awhile an inocent person is charged with a crime. You have to put up with the inconvenience of delay tactics by the guilty to avoid railroading the innocent.
