With the help of a black magic marker to write on the screen, I finally
won (or at least escaped with the amulet).  I haven't put in the new 1.1
mods so it just says:

I wouldn't have been able to do it without having read the code (unlike rogue
which is straightforward).  Knowing what goody to expect from the Minotaur and
how to use it helped.  Having looted a bookstore and greened my two handed
sword to +6 didn't hurt (although it could of... I didn't think the soft limit
was so low!)  Hooray!  Now I can (clean up the screen, have a beer and) finish
my Master's degree!
