Lines: 83 ... Well, I haven't seen this among the "Father Goose" tales so far, so, though it's old, here it comes. 'Twas on the Ark, and Noah, having received an indication that the long rains were over (an ark sign, as it were), moored the vehicle at the edge of the water. He bade all the animals "Go forth and multiply." And all the animals went happily down the gangway and into the woods. Noah thought the ark was empty, and was just about to leave when he saw two snakes lying in a corner, weeping. He inquired what the problem was, and was told "We can't multiply, we're adders!" Many long hours pondered he, until finally going forth into the woods with trusty axe, he felled many trees. He removed their branches and split their trunks into halves. Placing the trunks with flat side upwards, he fastened them together to make a large, flat surface. Then he took four more short sections of tree trunk and used them to support the flat surface off the ground. He presented his new creation to the snakes, who were ecstatically happy. And the moral of the story is...... "With a table of logs, even adders can multiply!" And you thought "go forth and multiply" was a [reverse] Polish joke! Incidentally, not all the animals on the Ark travelled in pairs... The worms traveled in apples.
