I don't know what issue; I have it in a Best of the JIR collection. The real title is "Impure Mathematics". No author is given in the normal style, but it is marked as "submitted by" Richard A. Gibbs. To forestall a couple of other likely comments: the duplicated subject line in the item was caused by a bug in postnews for which the fix was posted recently; and subscriptions to the JIR are now $4.50, $6.50 outside the USA, for 4 issues = 4/5 year, from Box 234, Chicago Heights, IL 60411. { allegra | decvax | duke | ihnp4 | linus | watmath | ... } !utzoo!lsuc!msb Mark Brader also via amd!pesnta!lsuc!msb, uw-beaver!utcsrgv!lsuc!msb (From February 14, utcsrgv will be utcsri) "Take the phrase, `You shall have no other gods before me.' Not only is this unclear, but we are troubled by the absence of measurable behavioral objectives. How will you know whether this is being accomplished? Do you plan to administer pre- and post-tests, or some kind of peer review?" -- James E. Mignard in JIR
