From Computers & Electronics, January 1985 There are rumors that AT&T is seriously thinking of offering Microsoft's Xenix (a true Unix operating system) on its 6300 personal computer, which is IBM PC compatible. Such a step would put the unit in a much better position to compete with the new IBM PC/XT machine, which now has Xenix as an option. The problem is that Xenix is compatible with Unix III and AT&T has announced that it will support only Unix System V. Microsoft is known to be working on making Xenix System V compatible.
